๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations to Ahmadreza Shojaee on Passing His PhD Viva ๐ŸŽ“

The Energi Simulation Centre is very pleased to celebrate the successful PhD viva of Dr. Ahmadreza Shojaee, who passed with a few minor corrections on Friday 24 April 2026. ๐ŸŽ“

Ahmadrezaโ€™s research at Heriot-Watt University has focused on the numerical study of biological and geochemical reactions during hydrogen storage in subsurface porous media. Through his work, he has contributed to a deeper understanding of how microbial activity and geochemical processes can affect underground hydrogen storage systems, an area of growing importance for the future of low-carbon energy.

With support from the James-Watt Scholarship, Ahmadreza has built on his background in petroleum engineering, reservoir simulation, geochemistry, and reactive transport modelling. He has also contributed to several publications linked to underground hydrogen storage and subsurface energy research.

We also acknowledge the support of his supervisors, Dr. Saeed Ghanbari, Dr. Gang Wang, and Prof. Eric Mackay, and thank Prof. Ken Sorbie and Dr. Aliakbar Hassanpouryouzband for serving as Internal and External Examiners. Congratulations, Ahmadreza, on this fantastic milestone. It is a result that reflects your hard work, dedication, and excellent research journey. ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘
