We are pleased to announce the upcoming PhD viva of Ahmadreza Shojaee, which will take place on Friday 24 April 2026.
Ahmadreza is a PhD candidate at Heriot-Watt University whose research focuses on Underground Hydrogen Storage. His project, titled “Numerical Study of Biological and Geochemical Reactions during Hydrogen Storage in Subsurface Porous Media,” investigates the complex interactions that influence hydrogen storage performance in subsurface porous media.
Supported by the James-Watt Scholarship, Ahmadreza’s work brings together reservoir simulation, reactive transport modelling, and subsurface geochemistry to improve understanding of the processes affecting underground hydrogen storage. His research has contributed to ongoing efforts to develop safer and more reliable large-scale hydrogen storage systems.
Ahmadreza is supervised by Dr Saeed Ghanbari, Dr Gang Wang, and Prof Eric Mackay. Since beginning his PhD in September 2022, he has contributed to research in underground hydrogen storage and related subsurface processes.
We wish Ahmadreza every success in his viva and look forward to celebrating this important milestone. 🎓👏
