We are delighted to announce that Célia Melo Silva will defend her PhD dissertation on 17 November 2025.

Célia is a PhD student in the Flow Assurance and Scale Team (FAST) at the Institute of GeoEnergy Engineering, Heriot-Watt University. Her research focuses on “Impact of EOR Polymers on Scale Inhibition.”

Her work explores inorganic scale formation and inhibition mechanisms, including polymer interactions and long-term kinetics. Her PhD is funded by FAST JIP, and she is supervised by Prof. Ken Sorbie, Dr. Alan Beteta, and Prof. Eric Mackay.
