Biography
Al Muataz is a PhD candidate at Heriot-Watt University, specializing in Low Net-Carbon Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and Energy Transition. His research focuses on optimizing polymer flooding to enhance oil recovery while minimizing carbon emissions, utilizing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Exergy Analysis. Al Muataz holds an MSc in Reservoir Evaluation and Management, also from Heriot-Watt University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Colorado State University. His doctoral work involves developing 3-D reservoir models and implementing Low Salinity Polymer (LSP) techniques, supported by a strong foundation in reservoir modelling and EOR strategies.
