26–27 November | Heriot-Watt University

The Energi Simulation Advisory Board meeting for the Research Chairs of Professor Arne Skauge and Professor Eric Mackay took place at Heriot-Watt University on 26–27 November.

Day 1

The meeting opened with a networking lunch in the Tom Patten Building meeting room. This was followed by presentations from both Chairs, along with talks from two PhD students representing each programme:

For Professor Arne Skauge:

• Saba Mahmoudvand – Summary of fundamental study of three-phase flow
• Saeid Ashtari Larki – Possible viscous fingering in CO2 sequestration

For Professor Eric Mackay:

• Patricia Gusmao – Produced Brine Compositions in Carbonate Reservoirs under CO2-WAG EOR
• Ahmadreza Shojaee – Coupled Flow and Biogeochemical Reactions in Subsurface Hydrogen Systems

The first day concluded with a dinner attended by the Chairs and members of the Energi Simulation Advisory Board.

Day 2

The second day began with a closed meeting between the Chairs and the Advisory Board. This was followed by a student poster session from 10:30 to 12:00, where PhD researchers presented their latest work to Board members and academic colleagues. After lunch, the Chairs and Advisory Board reconvened for the final review session and feedback discussions.
