Biography
Al Muataz is a PhD candidate at Heriot-Watt University, specializing in Low Net-Carbon Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and Energy Transition. Biography
Ali is a PhD student in Flow Assurance and Scale Team (FAST) at the Institute of GeoEnergy Engineering- Petroleum Engineering Department at Heriot Watt University, he commenced his studies in September 2021. His research interest includes water injection optimization and the effect of geochemical reactivity on the scale problem. Furthermore, study the effect of changes in temperature, pressure, pH and CO2 concentration in the aqueous or hydrocarbon phases. Ali has about 13 (2008-2021) years of oil industrial experience working as reservoir and petrophysics engineer in Iraqi ministry of oil. Ali holds a BSc & MSc in petroleum engineering from University of Baghdad in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

Biography
Saba is a PhD candidate at Heriot-Watt University, specializing in Low Carbon EOR and Energy Transition. She earned her BSc and MSc in Reservoir Engineering from Petroleum University of Technology and Shiraz University. During her MSc, Saba focused on modeling asphaltene phase behavior using PC-SAFT EoS. Following that, she joined National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), where she worked on a water injection pilot and managed oil production from three Iranian reservoirs. With expertise in numerical modeling, simulation techniques, and reservoir engineering principles, her current research explores the physics of 3-phase displacements in porous media of arbitrary wettability at the pore scale.

Célia is a PhD student in the Flow Assurance ad Scale Team (FAST) at the Institute of GeoEnergy Engineering at Heriot-Watt University, specializing in inorganic scale formation and inhibitor mechanisms, along with polymer interactions and long-term kinetics. She previously worked as a researcher focused on the study of micro and nanoparticle dispersions for EOR and the release of chemicals with a particular focus on microcapsules production for targeted chemical delivery at LMMP, PUC-Rio University. Biography
Mozhdeh is a PhD student in the Flow Assurance and Scale Team (FAST) at the Institute of GeoEnergy Engineering, Heriot-Watt University. She holds a BSc in Reservoir Engineering from the Petroleum University of Technology, where her interest in IOR/EOR processes, gas injection and reservoir simulation led to her thesis on “simulating retrograde dew point pressure variations in retrograde reservoirs during production scenarios.” She later earned an MSc in Reservoir Engineering from Tehran University, focusing on controlling asphaltene aggregation using metal oxide nanoparticles to enhance heavy oil recovery. Before joining FAST, she worked for several years as a reservoir engineer at the National Iranian South Oil Company, where she contributed to production optimization projects and reservoir modelling using Petrel and CMG software. Her work involved gas injection for enhanced oil recovery, material balance calculations, and developing effective production strategies to maximise reservoir performance.

Saeid Ashtari Larki

Biography
Saeid is a dedicated PhD student at Heriot-Watt University, currently researching fluid flow dynamics during carbon capture and storage (CCS) under the funding of Energi Simulation. His academic journey began at the Petroleum University of Technology (PUT), where he earned his B.Sc. in Petroleum Production Engineering and his M.Sc. in Petroleum Reservoir Engineering, both with first-class honours. Saeid’s research interests span enhanced oil recovery, reservoir simulation, nanoparticle applications, and smart water flooding.
He has extensive work experience, including serving as a reservoir research assistant at Khazar Exploration and Production Company (KEPCO) and a petroleum reservoir engineer at the National Iranian South Oil Company. Saeid is proficient in CMG, ECLIPSE, Petrel, and MATLAB software. He also specialized in well simulation using PIPESIM and oversaw various operations, including perforations, cementation, flowing wells, and well logs.

Biography
Shabnam is a PhD Researcher in Flow Assurance and Scale Team (FAST) at the Institute of GeoEnergy Engineering at Heriot Watt University. She commenced her postgraduate studies in January 2023. Her current research focuses on developing a methodology to study silica scale and its management in high and low temperature geothermal heat recovery systems. Farah is a PhD student at Heriot-Watt University. Holding a BSc & MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Kuwait University, An Employee in Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) from 2017 till present. Her current research focuses on the potential for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in a candidate aquifer reservoir in Kuwait, with a particular emphasis on assessing the feasibility of reproducing the injected CO₂ for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) in another field. The research will include a sensitivity analyses by varying key reservoir parameters (e.g., porosity, permeability, and injection rate) to determine their impact on storage efficiency and CO₂ recovery. Multiple scenarios will be run to evaluate both permanent and temporary storage options, allowing for a comparison of the long-term sustainability of CCS versus its utilization for EOR purposes through modelling software.

Biography
Patricia B. Gusmão is a PhD student at the Institute of GeoEnergy Engineering at Heriot-Watt University. Her research analyses the impact of geochemical reactions on the scale risk, investigating the effect of changes in flow rates, pressure, temperature, and CO2 concentration during water and gas flooding. Beyond that, her research interest includes the impact of residual oil saturation and CO2 partitioning on geochemical reactions and the application of reactive transport modelling for CO2 storage. Patricia has 12 years of experience as a reservoir engineer in Brazil, working with reservoir management, water management, and geochemical modelling in sandstone and carbonate reservoirs in the Campos basin and the Brazilian pre-salt fields. She holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering and an MSc in Chemistry from Rio de Janeiro State University.
